CURVES
Just one ball of yarn creates this fun scarf/boa – approximately 45" long. Make more than one and attach them together for a longer scarf. Design suggestion - use two balls of your favorite eyelash yarn and make a top and bottom for your curvey scarf, stitch together a top and bottom, stuff the tube for a great toy idea.
Materials: 1 ball of Bernat® Boa 1 3/4 oz/50 g (71 yards/65 meters)
Or other favorite furry yarn.
Size 5 1/2-mm knitting needles or size required to obtain gauge
Darning or tapestry needle
Gauge: 22 stitches = 4" 18 rows = 4"
Instructions:
Tail - Cast on 2. Knit 6 rows
Knit 1 with increase, knit 1 (3 stitches). Knit 4 rows. Knit 1, knit 1 w/increase, knit 1 (4). Knit 3 rows
Knit 1, knit 1 with increase, knit 2 (5). Knit 3 rows. Knit 2, knit 1 with increase, knit 2 (6). Knit 3 rows.
Knit 2, knit 1 with increase, knit 3 (7). Knit 3 rows. Knit 2, knit 1 w/increase, knit 4 (8). Knit 3 rows.
Knit 3, knit 1 w/increase, knit 4 (9). Knit 3 rows. Knit 4, knit 1 w/increase, knit 4 (10). Knit 3 rows.
Knit 4, knit 1 w/increase, knit 5 (11). Knit 3 rows. Knit 5, knit 1 w/ increase, and knit 5 (12). Knit 6 rows.
Knit 5, knit 1 w/increase. knit 6 (13). Knit 6 rows.
Knit 6, knit 1 w/increase, knit 6 (14).
Curves Shaping
Row 1 Knit 5, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 4.
Row 2 Knit 9, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 8.
Row 3 Knit 14, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 13.
Row 4 Knit 9, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 8.
Row 5 Knit 5, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 4.
Row 6 & 7 Knit
Row 8 Knit 5, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 4.
Row 9 Knit 9, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 8.
Row 10 Knit 14, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 13.
Row 11 Knit 9, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 8.
Row 12 Knit 5, turn, slip 1 knit wise, knit 4.
Row 13 Knit 1 row.
Repeat Rows 1 through 13 for each alternating curve with knit row in between to change the direction of the curve (row 13)
Continue through the "curves" shaping, repeating 5 times to make 6 curves.
Knit 20 rows.
Head Shaping - Decrease 1 stitch each side next 2 rows (10). Knit 3 rows. Knit 1 row, increasing 1 stitch each side (12). Knit 2 rows. Knit 1 row, increasing 1 stitch each side (14). Knit 8 rows. Knit 1 row, knitting 2 together each side (12). Knit 1 row. Knit 1 row, knitting 2 together each side (10). Continue knitting rows, decreasing 1 stitch each side until there are 2 stitches remaining on the needle. Cast off.
Finishing
Thread the tail onto needle and weave into your knitting. Trim excess.
